She raises her children with endless love, she side-steps her own needs in favour of her children’s, she devotes herself to the greatest role of her life, she consciously and uncomplainingly sets her child’s upbringing as priority, putting this way her own cornerstone for a better future.
A Pavlova at Vienna Café to remember the time we were children
It is this mother we celebrate at Vienna Café and we offer her a Pavlova, the "homemade" traditional dessert, which drudges up memories of play, carefree moments with cream smeared on lips and fingers and juicy strawberry colouring permanently our clothes and memories.
The dessert many argue about its origin
According to the Australian site "goodfood", Pavlova has its roots in America and England rather than Australia and New Zealand, which up until now were claiming it as their own. It owes its name to the superb Russian ballerina Anna Pavlova, who in 1926 visited Australia for one of her famous performances. However, it appears that the conception and the creation of the dessert are to be found at the other end of the Atlantic, in America. Already from 1911, there are references to a dessert with meringue, strawberries and cream as its main ingredients. Nevertheless, experts agree that Pavlova took a whole new dimension in Australia and New Zealand; it was tried in hundreds of variations and not unfairly, became their national dessert!
In Vienna Café the Pavlova has come to stay for the whole month
We are going to celebrate mother’s day with a Pavlova, reminding to all, mothers and offspring, the sweet, plush bosom of our one and only... mum!
